Chapter 15 - A New Horizon

Two weeks later, the snow had melted away, revealing a crisp, brilliant spring morning across the Chicago skyline.

I stood on the private terrace of the penthouse, the same spot where I had once stared out into the cold winter darkness wondering what my future held. The air was warm with the promise of a new season, carrying the clean scent of Lake Michigan.

A gentle pair of arms wrapped around my waist from behind, and Richard’s chin rested softly on my shoulder.

“You know, the board meeting went exceptionally well this morning,” Richard murmured, a warm smile playing at his lips. “They voted unanimously to officially rebrand the corporation under your family name. The Evelyn Vale Global Group.”

I leaned back against him, turning slightly to look up into his eyes. “You’ve been spoiling me, Richard. First the legal support, now a complete corporate rebranding?”

“I’m just investing in the most brilliant strategist in Chicago,” Richard replied, his gaze softening into something deeply tender. “Besides, I figured a woman who single-handedly brought down a corrupt empire deserves a partner who can actually keep up with her.”

I smiled, raising my glass of champagne to toast the glittering city spread out before us.

Dominic had wanted me gone by morning, stripped of my dignity, my home, and my identity. Instead, he had handed me the keys to an extraordinary new life. I wasn't just a survivor of his betrayal; I was the undisputed architect of my own destiny.

And as the sun rose fully over the Chicago skyline, casting a golden light across the horizon, I knew the best chapters of my life were only just beginning.
