Chapter 26 - The Eleanor Whitmore Initiative

Eleanor created a new program through her foundation.
Not a charity for “lonely elderly women.”
She would have hated that.
The initiative funded legal education and financial safeguards for older adults entering new marriages, partnerships, or caregiving arrangements.
Independent document review.
Fraud screening.
Estate-planning access.
Coercion training for notaries.
Counseling around isolation and major life transitions.
Grace helped design it.
“So this is what nearly dying gets me?”
“Another committee.”
Eleanor groaned.
They both laughed.
The program’s first slogan proposal read:
Love at Any Age, Safely.
Eleanor rejected it.
“Sounds like a pharmaceutical advertisement.”
They chose something simpler:
May you like
Trust Deserves Protection.
