Chapter 13 - Ava’s Suspicion

Ava Whitmore was forty-one, Eleanor’s grandniece.

She had never trusted Jason.

Not because of his age.

Because he asked questions like an auditor pretending to flirt.

“What does Aunt Eleanor actually own personally?”

“Who votes her hotel shares?”

“Does she have trusts?”

Ava told Charles.

Charles laughed.

“Don’t be paranoid.”

Now that conversation mattered.

Why would Charles dismiss the warning if he had introduced Jason?

Ava handed Leah old texts.

One from Charles:

Let Eleanor have some fun. Stop acting like everyone wants her money.

Eleanor read it.

Pain moved across her face.

Charles had used her age against the family too.

Anyone questioning Jason could be framed as controlling an elderly woman’s private life.

That made intervention harder.
