Chapter 10 - Uncle Thomas

Thomas denied everything.
“That isn’t me.”
Detective Santos placed three photographs on the table.
Same jacket.
Same watch.
Same distinctive scar near his left ear.
Thomas looked away.
Then officers showed him footage of his truck near William’s property eleven nights earlier.
He stopped talking.
Attorney requested.
Interview ended.
But William had another memory.
Three weeks earlier Thomas called Claire.
William overheard only part.
Claire had said:
“She doesn’t know anything.”
Then:
“I told you I handled it.”
At the time William assumed they were discussing an elderly relative.
