Miriam suggested something clever.
We acted as if one envelope had reached her.
Only one.
A forged trust amendment.
She emailed Vanessa:
I received documentation apparently bearing Adrian’s signature. Before processing anything, I require clarification.
Vanessa responded within eleven minutes.
Adrian signed everything before Singapore. He may have forgotten because of his health issues.
There it was.
She committed to the lie in writing.
Miriam replied:
Please identify witnesses.
Vanessa named two.
Lucas Vane.
Nolan Hale.
Nolan called me thirty seconds later.
“What did she do?”
“She named you as witness.”
“I never witnessed your signature.”
“Then tell the truth.”
“This could destroy me.”
I answered:
“That depends on what you’ve already done.”
