Nora had worked at Emma’s rehabilitation center.
She noticed inconsistencies almost immediately.
Emma was registered under another surname.
Visitors were tightly restricted.
Records claimed there was no family contact.
But Emma repeatedly asked about a husband named Damon.
Nora eventually searched my name.
She found news reports about Emma’s death.
“I thought Emma was confused,” Nora admitted.
“Then she showed me your photograph.”
Years passed before Nora learned enough to act.
Why so long?
Because Richard controlled the private care company through an investment partnership.
Nora feared losing access to Emma completely.
When Emma moved into the cottage two months earlier, Nora followed.
The night of my engagement dinner, Emma finally saw a society article online.
A photograph of Victoria.
Wearing the ring.
Emma panicked.
Nora decided the truth could no longer wait.
She drove Lily to Whitmore House.
“Why Lily?”
I asked.
Nora looked ashamed.
“I intended to come in myself.”
“What happened?”
“Security recognized my name from a restricted list.”
Richard had placed her name on it.
While Nora argued at the service gate, Lily saw an open catering entrance.
She remembered my photograph.
She walked inside looking for me.
The smallest person involved in the conspiracy had done what every adult had failed to do.
