Chapter 8 - THE INSTRUCTIONS

What exactly had Naomi been told to deliver at the gala?

Helen insisted she handed Naomi a donor packet.

Hotel cameras showed Helen standing near a side table.

She placed an envelope on a tray.

Then told Naomi:

“Table seven. Mr. Wallace. Before his remarks.”

Clear.

Why would Helen send damaging records to Wallace herself?

She hadn't meant to.

The envelopes were switched.

By whom?

Helen had prepared two.

One for Wallace:

A ceremonial donor list.

One for her attorney:

The Carter authorization and internal transfer records.

Both silver.

Both sealed.

Naomi took the one Helen pointed toward.

So Helen made a mistake.

Not Naomi.

Helen's humiliation came from her own carelessness.

Yet instead of admitting it, she attacked the lowest-status person nearby.

Silas saw symbolism.

Naomi saw pattern.
