Chapter 29 - SILAS AND ISAIAH

Isaiah died at eighty-three.
Peacefully.
Naomi called Silas.
He came immediately.
At funeral Silas did not give keynote speech.
Naomi asked him to say only a few words.
He stood.
“My friend Isaiah saved my life once.”
Pause.
“Then spent decades refusing to let me turn that into ownership over his story.”
People smiled.
“He taught me that gratitude without listening can become another form of ego.”
Then:
“I wish I had listened sooner.”
He sat.
No legend.
A friend.
May you like
That was enough.
