Chapter 23 - ARTHUR APOLOGIZES

Arthur apologized to Isaiah.
In person.
He expected anger.
Isaiah gave him none.
That almost hurt more.
“I was twenty-six.”
Arthur said.
“I was scared.”
Isaiah answered:
“So was I.”
“I thought company would collapse.”
“It might have.”
“I had a family.”
“So did I.”
Every justification Arthur used applied equally to the man he pressured.
That was the lesson.
Arthur cried.
Isaiah said:
“I don't forgive you today.”
Arthur nodded.
“But thank you for telling truth now.”

Enough.
