Chapter 15 - Thomas Explains

Thomas requested meeting with Rachel.

Attorneys present.

He admitted Morrow account.

Called money “consulting compensation.”

“Consulting on your own district vendor?”

“I wasn't procurement signer.”

“You influenced contract.”

“Everyone influences.”

“You hid it.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because it looked bad.”

Rachel almost laughed.

“If you hide something because it looks corrupt, maybe it is.”

Thomas said he never intended unsafe food served.

He believed Harvest Ridge maintained safety even when paperwork imperfect.

Then why tell Denise override refusals?

“Because staff rejected food for cosmetic reasons.”

Sarah's 53-degree reading wasn't cosmetic.

Thomas had not known about Field Day load specifically.

Maybe true.

But his pressure built system where people felt unsafe refusing.

Rachel said:

“You didn't need to order this tray served personally.”

She looked at him.

“You taught everyone your priority.”

He cried then.

Not enough.
