Chapter 29 - TEN YEARS BECOME TWELVE

Two years after discovery, Emily asked Daniel something.
“Do you know what bothered me most when you said 2026?”
“What?”
“I couldn't subtract.”
She had whispered “Ten years” instinctively.
But in that moment time felt unreal.
She had lost calendar.
Seasons.
Family events.
Technology changed.
People aged.
Daniel said:
“I’m sorry.”
Emily replied:
“Stop apologizing for things you didn't do.”
Then:
“Apologize for things you did.”
“What did I do?”
“You believed story too easily.”
“Yes.”
“And then?”
“I helped correct.”
“Good.”
That was enough.
Not inherited guilt.
Specific responsibility.
Specific repair.

Emily had become good at boundaries.
