Chapter 27 - The Truth About RachelOne question remained.

Had Rachel’s death really been an accident?
Investigators reopened the file because of Robert’s surveillance.
Daniel feared the worst.
For six agonizing weeks detectives reviewed traffic footage, maintenance reports, phone records, and insurance files.
The result surprised everyone.
There was no evidence Robert caused Rachel’s accident.
Her death had been exactly what investigators originally concluded.
An accident during heavy rain.
Daniel sat alone after receiving the news.
Part of him had expected another conspiracy.
Another hidden villain.
Instead there was only grief.
Anna sat beside him.
“I almost wanted someone to blame,” Daniel admitted.
“I know.”
“It would make more sense.”
“Sometimes terrible things happen without a person arranging them.”
Daniel nodded.
Rachel’s death did not need a new twist.
Her courage was enough.
She had uncovered a truth.
Protected copies.
Searched for Anna.
Left evidence for Ethan.
Her final act had not been becoming part of a conspiracy.
It had been refusing to participate in silence.
Daniel visited her grave the following morning.
“You were right,” he whispered.
Then he placed a photograph beside the stone.
Daniel.
Ethan.

Anna.
For the first time, the family picture included the person his father had erased.
