Chapter 13 - THE SECOND SENDER

The remaining anonymous messages came from inside school.

A student.

Not Chloe.

Not Madison.

Trevor.

Elias stared when confronted.

“No.”

Trevor cried immediately.

“I sent two.”

Why?

At first he hated Chloe's control too.

When Elias won center, Trevor thought it would break her power.

Then Chloe blamed everyone.

Trevor sent:

YOU STOLE SOMETHING THAT WASN'T YOURS

Pretending to be her.

He wanted Elias angry enough to confront Chloe publicly.

Then after paint incident:

YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED QUIET.

Why?

“Because I wanted more proof.”

Elias couldn't understand.

“You wanted her to do more?”

Trevor nodded miserably.

He had been filming before the paint because he expected Chloe to humiliate Elias.

He wanted evidence that would finally remove her as captain.

Instead of warning Elias, he recorded.

That betrayal was different.

He wasn't defending Chloe.

He was using Elias.

As bait.

Elias looked at him.

“You could have told me.”

“I thought you'd avoid her.”

“Yes!”

“That would ruin the proof.”

Silence.

Mr. Harrison closed his eyes.

The entire choir had begun thinking in terms of evidence and exposure rather than people.

Chloe manipulated scores.

Madison obeyed.

Trevor baited.

Victoria pressured.

Phones everywhere.

No one asked Elias what he wanted.

May you like

Again.
