Chapter 12 - VICTORIA’S EMAIL

Two days later district counsel obtained records through lawful process related to the harassment complaint.
One email from Victoria to Chloe:
You cannot let some scholarship transfer replace three years of investment.
Investment.
Not practice.
Not music.
Investment.
Another:
If Harrison insists on pretending auditions were blind, we'll give parents reason to question him.
Then:
Send me Reed's number. I'll handle pressure.
That was harder.
Victoria admitted sending two anonymous messages.
Not all five.
Which?
She claimed:
ASK YOUR FATHER WHY HARRISON OWES HIM.
And the old photograph.
She denied:
CHARITY CASE.
Denied:
YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED QUIET.
Someone else had sent those.
Same prepaid number?
Investigation suggested different service despite similar appearance.
There were two harassers.
Elias felt worse.
One adult.
One unknown.
Chloe stared at her mother.
“You said you didn't threaten him.”
Victoria answered:
“I challenged the process.”
“You texted him anonymously.”
“To make him think.”
“He's a kid.”
“So are you.”
The contradiction hung.
Victoria had defended Chloe's teenage judgment while using adult power against another teen.
School barred Victoria from volunteer access during investigation and referred relevant conduct to district counsel.
Donor plaque remained.
History did not disappear because donor behaved badly.
May you like
But money no longer gave access.
