Chapter 15 - The Final RuckThe final major ruck march arrived under gray Missouri sky.

My sleeve remained buttoned.
Not because hiding.
Because cold.
Important difference.
At mile six, Private Jordan developed blister.
She tried hiding limp.
I noticed.
“You okay?”
“Fine.”
“Liar.”
“Shut up.”
We kept pace.
No carrying each other’s gear.
No heroics.
Just adjustment.
Cadre treated me exactly like everyone.
Hayes yelled when I drifted out formation.
I almost smiled.
Normal discipline felt like respect.
At finish I crossed standard.
Not first.
Not last.
Passed.
That evening Captain Price handed me phone.
“Oklahoma investigator.”
I called.
My father had been arrested on financial charges.
Not fire arson.
Not attempted harm.
Fraud.
Forgery.
Misuse of trust assets.
Nathan charged separately and cooperating.
I sat on bunk.
Jordan watched.
“You okay?”
“I don't know.”
That was honest.
My father could love me and steal from me.
He could rebuild a community center and hide fraud.
He could visit hospital every day and later weaponize therapy notes.
