Chapter 21 - The Plea

Bryce’s criminal case resolved the following spring.
He pleaded guilty to state offenses involving assault and intentional property destruction, with the disability-related targeting considered in sentencing under applicable law.
No federal charge merely because I was a Marshal.
He never assaulted me.
His threat about my badge was arrogance, not a federal felony by itself.
Accuracy mattered.
He received probation with strict conditions, community service, restitution, counseling, and a no-contact order protecting Leo.
Some people online called it too light.
Others called it too harsh.
Leo stopped reading comments.
Cole accepted a separate plea on the shove and related conduct, receiving lesser penalties based partly on cooperation.
Neither outcome restored Leo’s device.
Neither restored his first semester.
