Chapter 19 - Alejandro Was the Last PieceTorres finally found the document connecting Michael’s plan directly to aquarium scandal.

A private risk memo Michael wrote three months earlier.

Valera Control Transition Scenarios

Scenario A:

Alejandro voluntarily approves restructuring.

Unlikely.

Scenario B:

Diego proxy and board coalition.

Possible.

Scenario C:

Alejandro removed after conduct event.

Probability rises if domestic trust disrupted.

Domestic trust.

Marriage.

Michael planned emotional destabilization as corporate tactic.

He did not predict aquarium specifically.

But he predicted Alejandro might create a “conduct event.”

Sofia showed memo to Alejandro during one final mediated meeting before his sentencing.

He read silently.

“Michael thought I was a machine.”

Sofia replied:

“You behaved predictably enough.”

He nodded.

“He knew my weakness.”

“You knew your weakness too.”

Alejandro looked up.

That was harder.

He had known his temper hurt people.

He called it intensity.

Standards.

Strength.

He had excused because successful.

Michael simply priced it.

Sofia continued:

“You keep talking as if Michael discovered something hidden.”

She pointed to memo.

“He exploited something everyone could see.”

Alejandro looked down.

“Why show me this?”

“Because I don't want you leaving court thinking you were only manipulated.”

“I don't.”

“Good.”

She stood.

He asked:

“Will I ever see you again?”

Sofia thought.

“Maybe.”

Not promise.

He nodded.

“Thank you for coming.”

She left.

That was their last conversation before Alejandro reported to serve his custodial sentence.

No dramatic embrace.

No vows.

He went because court ordered and because he had chosen conduct that carried consequences.

Michael’s scheme was crumbling.

Alejandro’s old life was too.

Sofia’s life, unexpectedly, was becoming larger.
