Chapter 23 - Greg’s TestimonyGreg spoke at a university forum a year later.

He did not present himself as a hero who eventually did the right thing.
He said:
“I filmed because I thought humiliation was entertainment.”
The room became quiet.
“I stayed because being friends with Trent gave me status.”
He admitted holding my ankle.
Laughing.
Failing to stop the throw.
Then:
“The scariest part is I kept thinking I wasn't as bad as him.”
That line mattered.
Groups survive cruelty when everybody measures themselves against the worst person.
If someone else is worse, you can feel decent while still participating.
Greg finished:
“I wasn't Trent. I was still responsible.”
I watched online.
I did not contact him afterward.

His growth belonged to him.
My healing did not require participating.
