Chapter 21 - Denise Gets a SeatThe base formed a working group after the command-climate review.

They invited officers.
Senior enlisted leaders.
Veterinarians.
Contracting personnel.
Then I asked:
“Where are the civilians?”
Someone looked confused.
“The civilian employees.”
Denise eventually joined.
Not because she witnessed my incident.
Because mess-hall workers, kennel staff, maintenance teams, and contractors saw behavior leadership often missed.
At the first meeting Denise said:
“If someone is rude to people they think don't matter, believe that information.”
The room went silent.
I wrote it down.
She noticed.
“You stealing my line?”
“Yes.”
“General.”
“Retired.”
May you like
“Still stealing.”
Fair.
