Chapter 13 - Eli’s AngerEli still carried anger.

Not at Sarah exactly.
At lost years.
“If they had listened to Nathan, Flight 229 might never happen.”
“Maybe.”
“You always say maybe.”
“Because we don't know.”
He slammed hand on table.
“My brother died.”
“I know.”
“Stop being calm.”
Sarah stared.
Then shouted:
“You think I'm calm?”
Eli froze.
“I left the only life I understood because every time I closed my eyes I heard him asking me what was wrong with his jet!”
Silence.
Sarah breathed.
“I am not calm. I am disciplined.”
Eli looked away.
That distinction mattered.
Later he apologized.
She did too.
Grief did not make either clairvoyant.
They were family-adjacent now through Nathan.
