Chapter 11 - Grandma’s Last RecordingNaomi found video deposition Eleanor recorded during 2019 amendment.

Standard capacity documentation.
Grandma sat in office.
White hair.
Blue jacket.
Sharp eyes.
Attorney asked why independent trust triggered at first great-grandchild.
Eleanor answered:
“Because children make adults reveal whether they understand stewardship or ownership.”
I cried.
Then:
“My son Richard thinks preservation means control. It does not.”
“What concerns you?”
“Related-party borrowing.”
She already suspected.
“Do you believe Richard is dishonest?”
Grandma paused.
“I believe he can become dishonest while explaining to himself that he is protecting family.”
That was devastatingly accurate.
She also spoke about Marianne.
“She will follow Richard farther than she intends, then be shocked by distance.”
Vanessa:
“She wants love without accounting.”
Me:
“Claire apologizes before anyone asks. I hope motherhood cures some of that.”
I laughed through tears.
